Privacy Policy

The short version

• You can use the daily quiz without creating an account or giving us any personal information.
• We record your answers anonymously to calculate statistics like "X% of students got this right."
• If you give us your email address, we use it only to send the daily set and related updates, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
• We don't sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Information you don't have to provide. When you answer questions, we store which answer was chosen for each question, whether it was correct, and the set number. This data is not linked to your name, email address or account.

Information stored on your device. Your in-progress answers, completed sets, streak and timer preference are saved in your browser's local storage so the Site remembers them. This data stays on your device and we can't see it. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Information you choose to provide.

• Email address, if you sign up for the daily email.
• Messages you send through the "Think this answer is wrong?" form, plus an email address if you choose to include one.
• Anything you send us by email.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the Site and our hosting provider automatically receive standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and the date and time of visits. This is used to operate, secure and improve the Site.

How we use information

• To run the Site, including the daily quiz, results and streaks
• To calculate anonymous question statistics
• To send the daily email, if you subscribed
• To review and fix reported errors
• To maintain security, prevent abuse and understand overall usage
• To comply with legal obligations

How information is shared

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only:

• With service providers that help operate the Site, such as hosting, database and email delivery providers, who may use it only to provide their services to us.
• With third-party tools on the Site. The graphing calculator is provided by Desmos and loads from Desmos's servers when you open it, subject to Desmos's own privacy policy.
• For legal reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety or property of ScoreHigh, its users or others.
• In a business transfer, if the Site is sold or transferred, in which case this policy will continue to apply to information collected before the transfer.

Advertising

The Site does not currently show ads. If we add advertising, we'll update this policy before ads appear and describe what data advertising partners receive and the choices available to you.

Children's privacy

The Site is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The daily quiz can be used without providing any personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us an email address or other personal information, contact hello@scorehigh.com and we'll delete it.

Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe from emails anytime using the link in any email or at /unsubscribe.
• Access or deletion: email hello@scorehigh.com to ask what personal information we hold about you or to have it deleted. Anonymous answer data can't be tied back to you, so it can't be retrieved or deleted by individual.
• Browser data: clear your browser's site data to remove streaks and saved progress.
• Depending on where you live, including California and Colorado, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws. We'll honor requests as required by applicable law and won't discriminate against you for making one. We treat Global Privacy Control signals as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information.

Data retention

• Anonymous answer data: kept as long as it's useful for question statistics.
• Email addresses: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
• Error reports: kept for up to two years.
• Technical logs: kept according to our hosting provider's standard retention.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no website or storage system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Where information is processed

The Site is operated from the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States. By using the Site from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be transferred to the U.S.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes, we'll post a notice on the Site. Continuing to use the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
